The Kurfürstendamm is known for its luxury shops and for the many cafes, restaurants, and hotels. The Ku’damm is the main shopping street in Charlottenburg – and one of the most famous and important streets in Berlin.
By the First World War, the Kurfürstendamm had been transformed from a residential street into an entertainment, shopping and communication center. The Bohemians met in the Café des Westens (Café Kranzler later moved here), and the Lunapark in Halensee, which opened in 1910, also attracted people. In the Weimar Republic, the street then became a stage for bourgeois self-expression and a place of cultural awakening.
And today the boulevard is the host of our new capital city studio directly opposite the Kaufhaus des Westens.
